ChatGPT is a conversational AI product from OpenAI. The official product site is chatgpt.com.¹²

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT on November 30, 2022 as a research preview. The launch post said the dialogue format made it possible to answer follow-up questions, admit mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. OpenAI notes on that post that ChatGPT has evolved substantially since 2022.²

OpenAI’s current ChatGPT overview describes three areas in one product: Chat for questions, learning, and everyday help; Work for documents, slide decks, spreadsheets, and other deliverables; and Codex for coding and technical work.³

OpenAI’s help center says ChatGPT is free to use, with subscription plans listed on its pricing page. This wiki does not repeat plan prices or claim a current model version.⁴
